At The Myo @ Everton Park

If you read our review of Nylon Coffee Roasters then you would know that our little café hopping adventure in Everton Park didn’t stop there. After we had our coffee fix, we popped over to Nylon’s next-door neighbour, At The Myo, for lunch.

At The Myo serves a fusion of Japanese and western dishes and also incorporates local flavours into their food. Similar to its neighbour, the atmosphere at the café is cosy and comfortable. We loved the vibrant pops of colour on the wall murals and its multi-coloured furniture. In addition to its pretty affordable prices, it’s no surprise that the café is packed during lunch time.

Tater tots with salted egg yolk sauce

Starting off our meal was the tater tots with salted egg yolk sauce. There wasn’t anything particularly special about the tater tots, but the salted egg yolk sauce was definitely the hero of the dish. It was smooth and creamy, and it didn’t have that sandy texture some salted egg yolk sauces do. The flavour of the salted egg yolk was also very distinct so you know you’re getting real salted egg in there!

Tom Yum Prawn Spaghetti

This dish turned out a little soupier than expected, but given that it’s tom yum, we could understand why. However, the broth was not like the traditional tom yum soup, it was not too overwhelming and sour. In addition, we loved the fresh ingredients used in the dish. Overall, this was a great dish that captured the fusion between the East and West beautifully.

Wagyu beef rice

This dish was a definite must-get for us because who can resist wagyu beef right? The beef was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, pink inside and superbly tender. I personally loved the sauce as it tasted like a homemade teriyaki sauce and it paired very well with the beef and rice.

Lychee salsa brown rice with grilled chicken

This is a great option for those of you who are health-conscious because of the use of brown rice. What we thought gave this dish a unique flavour profile was the fact that we could taste the sweetness from the lychee which seemed to be infused into the rice. The chicken was also tender and flavourful!
